K-jet steel fuel injector pipes

I was planning to refurbish the hard fuel lines on my spare 116.984 K-jet fuel system and refit them to my 117.985 engine, however I just checked epc and although the fuel distributor and WUR have the same part numbers, all of the steel fuel lines have different part numbers.

Does anyone know if they are different lengths or if they are interchangeable?

Hi Jim,

well both engines (M116 and M117 EU) differ in WUR still. But that has no influence on steel injection pipes. I guess - meaning I am not 100% sure - that there is a difference due to the slightly higher block of the 450 engine block. That would make M117 pipes a bit longer.

Hi Volker, have a look at these epc screen captures, it seems to suggest the same WUR is used on the 3.5 and 4.5 engines.





I will go and try out a few of the fuel lines to see if they will fit.

my mistake I had selected the 450 SL US for comparison. But of course in the UK you have the European engine.

I removed the cold start injector line as well as the lines to 5,6 and 7.



Then compared them to the lines from the 350 engine. There were some differences.









Then tried to fit the 350 lines to the engine.



Two lines fitted easily and two did not.



With some further bending it may have been possible to get them to fit but as it is easy to cross thread the lines going into the fuel distributor I decided not to try.

As a result I will put off the plating of the 450 lines until the car is off the road next winter.

I will continue to plate the 350 fuel lines if there is any market for them, I am not sure there is any market though as I seldom see them for sale.
