Hi all.
Greetings from Norway.

Cab season is ending so now comes the time of fixing stuff that needs doing before next spring.

My 280SL from 1982 seems to be missing some guides between the door card and the window inside. Both for passanger and driversside.
It has always been like this, so i never reacted to it until I noticed another 107 with this rubber strip.

Would this be the correct part?

Hi Stian,

your mentioned parts should fit. Be aware, you need a inner and outer rubber strip.

Hei Stian,

early models had brush strips as you have on the outside but they can be replaced by rubber strips which are solely available today.
If you are going to replace the outer strip as well, here are some hints regarding the installation:
Use no pliers to remove the chrome strip, only wood or plastic and lift the strip upwards.
If you don't have rust under the strip that you want to treat you can get along without removing the strip completely what involves removing the mirror as well as shown in the video. See here, in this position I was able to get the rubber strip out and the new one in.
The cuts that you have to make in the metal part of the rubber strip are quite delicate, I used a saw instead of a wire cutter.

Hälsningar, Lutz

I purchased the inner strips here, they need to be cut and bent to shape.

www.sls-hh-shop.de/main/en/mercedes-280-...ows-up-to-82-p-15514

The outer strips were purchased here and also need to be cut to length.

Old and new inner strips.

I don't seem to have any pictures of fitting the outer strip.

Thank you all. Parts ordered and awaiting delievery.

As I opened the door I found this little thingy lying about inside the door.

It is the glider for the rear window rail.

Does anyone know what direcion it goes in the rail?

Am I correct in thinking the white plastic goes over the glass?

There is M6 threads in it. Am I missing a set screw to tighten it to the window?

Regards

Stian

The thread is M8, its for adjusting the play between the guide and the frame rail. Just cut about 8mm off a M8 bolt, saw a slit into one side and smoothen all edges. Here 2 pics of how to glue the guide back to the window. Degrease well and use window cement as the guys in a auto glass shop use to bond windscreens in. Maybe they have a cartridge with some glue left for you for free, just ask ;)

Take the glue for the front-window and fix it, it´s a tip from Obelix.
So I do it and it works

Thank you all!

Gliders are glued in.
Maybe I'll have time to assemble the rubber strip tomorrow.

Best
