Hi Everyone, here is Andrzej from Poland.
Please excuse me not writing in German, but unfortunately, I do not speak your language.

Anyway, I would like to ask you for advice on following. I have a C107.024 450SLC from 1976. I had this car for the last 15 years and believed to keep it forever. However, I realised that for the last 5 years I made with it maybe 500km, simply I got bored of it. Therefore I'm going to advertise it and hopefully finally sell it. My problem is, I have no idea what should be the price of such a car. I didn't monitor the market for years. Browsing online advertising in PL or in DE do not clarify the picture because on the photos most of the cars looks nice. In real life, most of them are useless junk. As the Polish classic car market is relatively small, we always treated as a benchmark German market, which is normally more vivid. However right now, there is only one 450SLC on mobile.de which surprised me, at the same time more than 50 x 280SLC, and they are also with relatively high prices.

My question is: What should be the realistic price for my car?

Little description:
I bought it in Germany 15 years ago as a not finished project. Bodywork and paint were done before I bought it and it is not bad. Right now after 15 years some rust spots on one fender and left doors along the chrome. Probably couple others, but nothing structural for sure. However, has to be said that the bodywork wasn't "state of the art" quality even 15 years ago, I would say decent 3/5.
  • The paint colour and interior is not original (originally yellow paint and green interior)
  • engine had big overhaul at one of the best Polish workshops specialised in classic Mercedes about 8 years ago. Basically, it is perfect, no smoke etc...
  • New leather interior, carpets etc.. In my opinion the best non-original W107 interior I saw.
  • "new" Bridgestone tires. They had a couple years but also maybe 5000km
  • I have spent on this car probably double its value over those 15 years. I know: my bad ;-)
  • front fenders are probably some aftermarkets
  • a couple years ago I have changed in suspension everything which could be changed. This includes all shocks, gums, silent blocks, joints etc.. only a couple thousand km was made since then.
  • chroms 8,5/10
  • a few years ago a new exhaust system
  • engine bay not clean. Unfortunately, I did nothing visually with the engine so it looks like 40 years old engine bay
  • engine was changed at some stage of its life, however, it is still 117.985 on K-Jet
  • this is European version, only the headlamps are the US. I bought it this way and never changed it
  • not working A/C
  • couple other items as always in the 40-year car. Basically, It can be enjoyed, looks fantastic on the road but definitely not perfect

What do you think guys, what is the realistic price for such car? Thank you all for your help.

Hi Andrzej,

no problem if you wirte in English, that is not an issue for us. Be our guest!

I have immediately removed your data card picture. You posted the data card with key no. that is dangerous as everyone can get a key copy then and steal your car. Well maybe you do not have original key cylinders any more, but I did not want you to take the risk.

Now when it comes to evaluation: You can use www.classic-analytics.de/de/oldtimerpreise to get an idea. Of course everything starts with a proper assessment of the state of your car. Rust, chrome problems, non original color and other problems devaluate the car. It sounds like yours is a 3 at best.

Thank you for your quick answer.
I have tried the WWW you mentioned (used google translate) but the result was that it is worth from 4400 - 22800 EUR. You have to admit that this price range doesn't help too much ;)

The most valuable would be an opinion of someone who recently tried to buy/sell the similar car and saw many of them in real.

If you get arround 15000 Euro you will be very lucky, the car is neither perfekt or original, at the end it is the story " you get what someone is willing to pay ", this could be less.
Dirty enginebay and signs of rust on the body, as you describe it yourself will turn a lot of interestet people away .

Good morning Andrzej
Like Wolfgang said it is very difficult
No original colour no Original interior..
I would say 12 and when you're very lucky 15.
Depending on the description from you the big question is how far is the rust going on.
Difficult .....

That is what I thought, 10-15 000 EUR. Probably due to small demand, it will be finally closer to 10 000. I just wanted to check if this is realistic, simply wasn't sure if this is not 5000 EUR, and all those classfields are there and no one is buying at those prices.

Thank you all for your advice. All the best.

The one car for sale in the UK:

www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2...sed&model=450&page=1

I appreciate that this car is RHD and so the market is more limited than for LHD but it doesn't seem expensive.

Kind regards,
Andy

First of all the RHD market and LHD market, in my opinion, is completely different. In most cases, RHD cars are way cheaper.

Apart from this, the price is in the range 10-15 thousand EUR but you can say absolutely nothing about this car from the pictures. It was stored for 25 years. It could be a huge advantage or disadvantage. Definitely worth seeing if someone is looking for such car, but the description says nothing about the rust, mechanical etc.
