560SL, 1987 clock repair was created by stan73
Dear all, I'm trying to fix my clock. There are many explanations about problematic 2 x 100 uF capacitors, but my clock has only one.
Should I try to change this one and check working condition? Best regards, Stan

Hi Stan,

electrolytic capacitors have a tendency to get bad when they are old. As your clock is already out, you could give it a try.
What kind of blob is this over the capacitor and under the skew gear?

Cheers,
Lutz

Hi Lutz,
it looks like some lubricant.
I will change the only one capacitor
and make report about success :-)

Everything is fine!
Found small drop (0.1 mm) from soldering between plastic gears of the clock

After cleaning the gears , clock is ticking.

Hi Stan,

you should wait for soldering to cool down by its own instead of heavily blowing at it.
