Central Locking

Hallo,

Please could someone tell me if my '73 450SL should have central locking? It is a UK specification vehicle, imported new in Nov 1973. I do not have the handbook and have been unable to confirm whether it should. I can find no evidence of any parts missing, so have concluded that it shouldn't be fitted.

Hi Andy,

I cannot not answer your question but I can give you a hint how to find out very easy if your car has a central locking system.
If you take a look to the locking mechanism in the trunk you will see, if there is a vaccum driven actuator or not. If you don't have one, your car won't have a CLS.
Here you can see the actuator at the 2nd an 4th picture.

a look into the data card of your SLmight help. Central locking was an extra. If it has been ordered you find it in box 46 with a 6, means 466: central locking.

you can also check whether you have the central locking reservoir in right fender consisting of 15 balls. It was not installed by default, only when ordered.
