Hand brake cable release

I need a bit of help removing the hand brake cables as they are different to those shown my manual.



Looks like the cable is held in with a clip that slots out.



View from beneath, I tried pulling on the cable to release but tit is stuck fast.



Can someone confirm that they are just a push fit and can be tapped out?

I put a ring spanner round it and tapped it with a hammer, it then came out easily.
