sternzeit-107.de/de/slpedia/werkstatt-gr...-etacho-107-126-gear
Are you sure with 500 SL model? This one was never sold in US officially, seems to be grey import. But why did they covert it to the US bumpers?
Viele Grüße

This car is 500SL imported from USA ( we have checked data card and chassis and engine numbers)
I have experience and changed disc and gears
of 560SL in the past.
My question is about proper gears for 500SL,
it has different axle ratio and the gears for converting of 560SL will not work.
Best Regards,
Stan

is the 500SL still running? So you can check/ document first, how the gapes are in speed and distance, form what you see to reality.
Normally the 83 model have an electronic instrument and the 85mph version was only a mechanical system. I suspect it is mount the disc what was easiest available on the original speedometer.

I think they changed entire instrument cluster in USA,
don't believe someone will play with changing only only disc.
You can see back sticker

500 SL has 2 different rear axles. You need to be sure about the real rear axle differential transmission. Then please tell me no of teeth of E4 and E5. If they are wrong, you need not only E1, E2, E3 but also someone who cuts E4 and E5 according to my spec. Additionally comes mechanical and electrical recalibration of 85 mph speedometer.

Hallo Hans

good to know. You need a speedometer with k=4480 Imp/km . May I still ask for the no. of teeth on E4 and E5 gears?

if you have original 380 SL E4 = 44;34 and E5 = 26:16 you will need new gears E4 and E5. That will cost you about 60€ . Plus additional E1 to E3 . That is why I ask you which E4 and E5 you have.

The gears inside are:
E1: 12
E2: 48/12
E3: 48/16
E4: 44/34
E5: 26/16
At first look like someone changed something inside. You can see text on the back side of the disk. Maybe this is original 500SL tacho, just converted according USA and changed disc?
Few more pictures attached.

the complete speedometer units is from US 380 SL .
Only it has the extra fuse on the white housing , 30,000 mils for the lamda sensor .
The internal structure in the speedometer is also from the 380 SL.
Best Regards
Günter

please watch the limit of 5 pictures per post and do not bypass it by opening a series of posts with pictures. It is a matter of disk space and backup.
Well you have an original 380 SL mls speedometer with 85 mph disc. I know you already have a new disc from Günter. so you need now 5 new gears. I have the first 3 here but I will have to ask you for getting E4 and E5 micro milled. Totally woughly 100€ . Or you find a W126 speedometer with k=4480 Imp/km and use its gears.
Then I could swap disc, overhaul electronics and tune it electrically and mechanically. You do not and cannot use the oxygen sensor change indicator. So forget about that.
