Early models sills

Good day,

I have a question regarding the holes in the sills of the R107. It's my understanding that the early models did not have the oval holes below the front fenders where the water from windshield area can flow through. I have seen pictures of multiple early models with only the 2 small holes and the 2 plugged holes per side.

Could someone tell me if the early sills still had the oval hole on the top of the sill, or if this was also not there?
