I was replacing plastic Timing Chain Guides.
But now I am stuck and need your help. In my 560SL,1986 US model. The timing chain guide "pin" does not have a thread inside of it that it can be pulled out by the puller as in the video.
It took a borescope picture:

I am definitely at the right spot.

In the MB manual, 05-330 - R&R of Tensioning Rail, there is this very odd step 6.
what does that mean? Is it meaning that you "Can't use a bearing puller to pull tensioner"?
What am I supposed to do? does it say just jam a 8mm bolt or screwdriver? what the heck?
Am I to try threading a M8 bolt? How do you with 560sl proceed?

Any help is very appreciated, since my plastic lining on the tensioner rail is very worn out. Thx.

Thanks,

Hi Konstantine ,

I just did the same job on my 88 MY 560 and came across the same issue. I followed a hint from the forum to use a big and long nail. That worked perfekty well and took no more than 20 seconds. I add some fotos so that you can see what I used.

Good luck, Andreas
