500 Sl won start

My 1982 500 SL doesnt want to start. Engine turns over, but dont seem to have ignition (I do get 12V to the ignition coil, but dont see a spark at the spark plugs) and I dont hear the fuel pump noise anymore, as I did before.

Fuel pump is new; fuel pump relay, ignition coil, battery also. And I cant fand an overvoltage relay (überspannungsschutz) in my car.

Any suggestions (also in German !) appreciated !

Hi Kris,

Your problem could have any number of causes, but heres what happened with my 450....

Theres an ignition module which connects to the distributor with a co-ax cable. In my case it was simply a case of bad contact at the module.... after a lot of embarrassing cut-outs, and refusal to start in the most awkward spots!!
