        Hello all,
I’m about to exchange the oil cooler on my ‘72 450 SL (US) with another genuine unit. It is attached to the radiator with two bolts - but not ordinary bolts. Rather they have a round head (ref. enclosed picture). I cannot see a corresponding nut on the backside. Anybody know how to get these fittings loose? Is there perhaps a small clip between the small bracket and the radiator? Difficult to see. I have not yet loosened the fan scroud.
best, Peter

        Hi Peter,
from my memory: There should be 2 nuts under scroud. You have to remove that first. Then spray screws and nuts well with with rust solvant. Srew sits in a square hole in cooler.

        Hi Peter,
the oil cooler is screwed in place with two M6 carriage bolts, with the watercoller together from otherside you find M6 Nuts not clips .

        Hi Volker and Igor,
You are absolutely correct. I checked with some light and could clearly see the two small nuts on the other side, facing forward. At least the upper nut looks like a tight fit but a small wrench ought to do the trick.
