correct wiring diagram 1975 450sl was created by Ward627
Hello everyone,
I have a 1975 450SL where the starter valve is not connected (the wires are cut). Now I would like to reconnect this, but I can't find the correct wiring diagram anywhere. The connector which connects the starter valve, has different wire colors. And my thermo time switch has 3 wires (only 2 are shown on the diagram). Is there someone who can help me finding the correct wiring diagram. It would be a great help! Thanks in advance!
Kind regards,
Ward

Ward

Hi Volker,
I've already checked them all out, but i can't find the right one. If i'm not mistaken, the thermo time switches in all wiring diagrams have only one wire that's connected with the connector terminal 3. I have 3 wires comming out of my thermo time switch.
One is connected to terminal 2 of the connector, the other two aren't connected to the connector terminal 3. Also my terminal position 3 from this connector has a different color (black/ blue instead of pink).
I've also checked my vehicle identification number. It also indicates February 1975 as the production date. So this should be correct.
Kind regards,
Ward

Hi Ward,

then I am afraid that someone has "reworked" your wiring harness. It is easy: signal 50 in on G and depending on temperature W activates CSV relay. There is no magic around it.

Hi Volker,
A small update.
I think I have solved the wiring problem partly (after all, I need the correct wiring diagram to be able to work on my car).
In the 07.4-040 test of electronically controlled fuel injection, they mention a modification from September 1975.
This wiring diagram is without relay and with three wires at the thermo-time switch. Possibly a wiring harness has been built over from a later model?
When I look at the wiring diagram of the US from 1976 (possibly the K-jetronic model), the thermo-time switch also has three wires, and the wiring diagram ID7 with a later chassis number also has the thermo-time switch with three wires. I think I can continue with this...

Kind regards,
Ward

Hi Ward,

yes 76 wiring diagram is for K-Jetronic. It is correct that thermo time switches were enforced to drive CSV without relay already in D-Jetronic. But I am not aware when that was changed in production. K-Jetronic however has a different thermotime switch with 15°C instead of 35°C.

Hi Volker,
Probably it will not be easy to find the right wiring diagram. Currently part of the wiring diagram matches the ID7 wiring diagram and a part of the K-jetronic wiring diagram.
