-88 560 on 95 unleaded

Hi folks,

my wife filled the tank with 95. Since then is the car running badly on idle. When driving is the car also unresponsive for a second or two when I hit the gas pedal. It is almost misfiring for a second before it decides to run.
I will also mention that I put a bottle of QMI injector cleaner in the tank, maybe this is a part of the problem, or the problem?

Anyone with ideas or experience?
What about filling 95? I have read somewhere that 95 is not lubricating the same way as 98?

Appreciate any replies to these issues.
 

Hello Erik, i would say, the Problem ist Not the 95. My 380 runs fine on IT. You said you pour a bottle of a cleaner into the Tank. I suppose You have to search there for your problem.

Hi ZitroniX, according to the manufacturer shall the cleaner not cause any problems, however I agree in that is is suspicious.

I am living in Sweden and use nothing else than 95 - stronger stuff is hard to get - and the car is running fine!

In the Times when the car was build, the gas quality in the US was much more worse than nowadays. I think it was 89 octane. And the cars worked finde even with this gasoline. So there is no need for high loaded gasoline. It is much more important to be shure that there is low shares of Methanol. This stuff eats the rubbergaskets

Also, in my opinion, the poor running cannot be attributed to the 95 octane rating. I drive my 560 SL for 21 years with unleaded 95 and the engine sounds as smooth as the first day!

Hi Beni, thanks for the input. I guess I can rule out the 95 Octane to be causing my problem.

....i hope it was indeed 95 octane she put in there - and not Diesel or something else
