I will have to change it to one like the OEM, unfortunately the OEM one is just too expensive at about £1500!
The SLshop and SLS both sell an OEM style aftermarket unit. Does anyone know who makes these and if they are available at a lower price.

The internal structure is shown on the SLS site.

buy a stainless steel exhaust from Sobkowiak and you will never face trouble again. I run that on my 450 SL.

if is A1074901015 the correct MB-Number (as it says at the SLShop) then the "IMASAF ME.80.06" should be an alternative one which is a lot cheaper.
You can find it HERE , shipping to the UK is 25 €.
Beste Grüße,
Julius

It is this type that looks more like the OEM that I am looking for.

you can talk to Sobkowiak whether you want original sound or a different version. And stainless steel will never ever be a problem again. If the transport to UK was not so expensive I would be willing to give you my old middle muffler that I took out after 20 tkm and replaced by stainless steel.

I thought that this would be a cheap year for the SL, so far it has turned out to be rather expensive with this and the new radiator.

Is a genuine original at € 1.864,80 better?

Few questions, not all really exhaust related.
the Italian made exhaust parts, what brand was that? & from what seller did you order from? I cannot find a seller that would ship to USA.
Is your car a recent restoration? It's the cleanest under car I have ever seen? where did you get the fuel lines?
What seats are those? beautiful sport seats? assuming Recaro?
Where is your radio? noticed that you have seat controls instead of radio?
Greetings, from US. Konstantine
Thanks,
Konstantine from Pennsylvania, USA

It is an Imasaf exhaust, bought here, there are a few sellers on ebay, maybe one of them will ship to the US.

BigFish246 wrote: Is your car a recent restoration? It's the cleanest under car I have ever seen? where did you get the fuel lines?
Yes, the restoration was completed in June last year, the fuel lines are original, actually the rusted ends were repaired and then the entire fuel line was repainted.
BigFish246 wrote: What seats are those? beautiful sport seats? assuming Recaro?
The seats are from a MK 1 Audi TT, I use them as they are more comfortable then the original seats but I can put the old seats back in at any time.
BigFish246 wrote: Where is your radio? noticed that you have seat controls instead of radio?
I removed the poor aftermarket radio in the car and replaced it with a blue-tooth amp, Nobsound NS-10G PRO along with a Kenwood under-seat sub. And yes, the radio slot now houses the controllers for the multi level seat heaters.
